Basic Portrait Posing Tips

Posing that makes clients look attractive is a goal for all professional photographers.

If posing is:

  1. tailored to fit the purpose for which the portrait is to be taken,
  2. coordinates with the overall feeling and style you are creating for your client,
  3. and makes the client look outstanding in their ways,

…you are creating portraiture work that is worth every money.

Salable posing is much different than artistic posing. The first thing to understand is that you must select a pose based on the needs and tastes of the individual client. Also, it’s important to understand those classic posing theories come from a different place and a much different time. Yet, it’s very helpful to understand some of those basic concepts. That’s why we have included a 60-minute excurse about the “Mastery of Classical Posing”.

This course covers the basics and pitfalls for both, female and male portraiture. Besides a general need-to-know about classical posing concepts, we curated the most important tips & tricks for effective and appealing results.

In this course you get a rundown about:

  1. all of the various body parts
  2. modern posing concepts
  3. how your camera position influences body shapes,
  4. and how to handle & direct your subjects.

Curated Duration: 3 h 26 min
